I had my first encounter with coding. I realized the importance of organizing my code to maintain clarity and efficiency. I also experienced working with Arduino for the first time and understood the significance of organized wiring to ensure the proper functioning of circuits.

I learned how to manipulate the foamboard to create low-fidelity prototypes. These prototypes were instrumental in conducting broad and in-depth explorations. By embracing the process of making and iterating, I gained valuable insights and refined my ideas to create innovative and functional designs.

I developed my understanding and technique in exploratory sketching. I trained my motor skills and improved my accuracy, gaining professional confidence. I embraced the purpose of sketches for exploration and communication, reaching a level of improvisation for quick and creative iterations.

The course on Aesthetics of Interaction provided an enriched perspective on designing interactions. Concepts such as feedforward highlighted the importance of physical and informational interactions. Methods like “Interaction Relabelling” and “. Experience Prototyping”  enrich my toolkit to explore and create more meaningful user interactions.

I learned that business canvases go beyond monetary aspects and encompass user values. I acquired knowledge in developing diverse business models, including the Business Model Canvas, value propositions, future cones, service blueprints, and stakeholder union maps. This course broadened my understanding of creating innovative and user-centered business models.

I had my first encounter with a design process. I learned Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator but discovered my preference for physical design. During team brainstorms, I learned to push myself to "bite the bullet" when it took too much effort for the team to take a design decision.

I had my first encounter with Python as a tool for data analysis. I learned how to analyze quantitative data by translating it into informative graphs using Python. Additionally, I gained proficiency in creating various types of graphs to effectively visualize and interpret data.

I gained valuable insights from my teammates in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. This collaboration Additionally, I learned about the role of an industrial designer within a multidisciplinary team, understanding how to contribute effectively to projects that require a diverse skill set. I learned valuable lessons from my multidisciplinary team, that provided me with new hard skills in prototyping.

I gained valuable skills in collecting quantitative data using Arduino and smartwatches like the Apple Watch. I learned how to work with sensors and use them to collect and analyze the data in python. This knowledge enabled me to gather and interpret quantitative information.

I gained the ability to design from a tactile perspective, considering the user experience. I expanded my vocabulary related to tactile interactions and acquired skills in creating animations and simulations using Blender. This comprehensive course empowered me to create engaging and immersive tactile experiences.

I learned the importance of choosing and focusing on the target group during the design process. I had my first encounter with user-centered design methods such as user tests and interviews. These techniques allowed me to gain valuable insights and design solutions that prioritize user needs and preferences.

I integrated my basic understanding of sensors, actuators, resistors, and other components into a single circuit. I also explored the concept of incorporating electronics into a case or enclosure, considering factors such as aesthetics, functionality, and user experience to create innovative and well-designed electronic projects.

I was introduced to the concept of using design as a means of generating knowledge. I discovered that design doesn't solely have to be market-focused but can also contribute to academic research. I learned valuable skills in finding relevant research papers and effectively writing them, expanding my understanding of the research process in the field of design.
